I have nothing to say for myself right now. I'm embarassed and don't know why I've taken a sudden leap backwards.
This is NOT helping me reach my goals.
I HAVE to get my motivation back.

Week 13: What Am I Doing?
Still playing catch-up. I think I do better when I blog better. It seems to be one of my strongest motivators. Seems to help keep me honest and on track.
Sun May 24
Didn't track and ate like a doofus.
Mon May 25
Bootcamp for 45 minutes.
Eating was a repeat of Sunday. I'm embarassed to say I've been binging on crackers at night. Head to bed with a book and a part box of crackers. Stop reading when the crackers are done. What am I doing??????????????
Tues May 26
Doing a better job but not writing down the calories.
Breakfast:
Single Serving of Cereal
Splash of milk on cereal
Snack:
Nutrigrain bar
Haven't been drinking! That's not going to help!
Lunch:
3 Cups Water
Corn Tortillia Pizza and a few extra bites of sausage
Snack:
2 Cups Water
Cereal Bar
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And then I fell off the wagon HARD.
I think I may have come up with why I'm stumbling. I think I need to get my physical activity back up where it was. I WAS doing bootcamp and working out at home every other day and have bailed on it since when I left for my trip to BC. I've scheduled three walks over the next weeks time and am hoping this will get me back on track.Why on earth would I come this far and throw it all away? What am I doing?
Hmmm... ACTUALLY - now that I look at my calories - if it weren't for the stupid crash diet I'm really just eating around my maintenance level. Well, a little over (which may show when I weigh myself on Sat morning) but not actually a lot... Hmmm... I think I just need to find a way to give myself a good swift kick in the arse!
Fri May 15.09
So I am thinking that maybe self-sabotage isn't quite what it is. I think it's slacking off on being as rigid and focused with my calories. If I "get away with" eating poorly and it doesn't affect me negatively (weight gain, etc) then I figure it's "okay" and keep on the same track until it does affect me. Then I have to re-evaluate and find a way to re-motivate myself. That's my theory this morning.
Too lazy to write everything out.
Just for Fun
So, being the girl that I am, I've been wanting to fit back into my wedding dress. Well, today was the day! I kinda thought it would fit and tried it on earlier by myself but I needed help with the zipper so while hubby was home I decided to give it a try.
Almost 6 years after our wedding I can fit comfortably into my wedding dress!
Ta Da!
Almost 6 years after our wedding I can fit comfortably into my wedding dress!
Ta Da!
The only downside is that I think my bust measurement must have been bigger 6 years ago...
= )
THEN - while things were going good - I got a little carried away and dug out my highschool grad dress! So here is a flash back to May 7 1993... (laughing)
Reached Goal #1 - Setting Goal #2 (Comparrison Photos)
Goal #1 was 147.0 pounds. Ta da, I'm at 146.5 pounds.
So - I've decided to review my stats, determine my calorie needs and set Goal #2.
My current BMI is 22.6 (Normal: 18.5-24.9)
My ideal weight (according to www.caloriesperhour.com) is 141.0 pounds.
So - Goal #2 is 141.0 pounds by July 1st.
What is my updated caloric requirement?
BMR/RMR (base-rate calories required for survival)
BMR = 1448
RMR = 1405
I average the two so my minimum required calories are: 1427
* I have been spending more time at playdates than exercising so I'm going to put myself into the "Light exercise or sports (1-3 days a week)" category.
* That mean my daily clalorie intake should be around 1,962.
* Because I still want to lose a few more pounds I am creating a caloric deficite of 500 calories.
My updated daily caloric target is 1,462.
(Note: Any exercise above the "1-3 days of light activity" technically means I can eat a little more to maintain my target.)
Wish me luck!
Since I have hit my first goal I am going to post some comparrison photos. As my dear friend, Cheri, said recently: "Know what I'm noticing? That 136 looks so totally different on me now than it did 5 years ago!" Funny - I'm noticing EXACTLY the same thing @ 146.5!! (laughing) I know I'm my own worst critic but I don't think it will hurt for me to drop a few more pounds.
Instead of making you try to find the original photos I will post the Before & the After photos in this blog entry.
BEFORE & AFTER
Now that I've taken a look at these I have to admit it's sad how minimal the difference appears. But there is a substantial difference in the way my clothes fit. So it's good. Maybe I should have just used larger photos... (laughing)
Anyhow, I'm happy to SEE the changes and look forward to reaching my next goal.
The "Cleanse" Is Over
Well... That was an interesting experience.
I have never bee supportive of actual cleanses and it was suggested that I "just give it a try before being so concrete in my opinions" - so here I am.
I am NOT recommending the "cleanse" I did to anyone. In fact I am still in doubt of the value of any cleanse or kick-start diet. But I have arrived at some interesting places along the way.
Having that sort of control over an aspect of your life is scary and (sadly) exhillerating in a way. I have a much more experiential understanding of anorexic behaviours. To be able to have such control over something is a weird experience. I do have a somewhat addicitive personality but fortunately for me my enjoyment of food is stronger.
In a short term aspect I can see how a 4-day crash diet like this can work wonders for some while it could potentially be disasterous for others. I am also trying to figure out who might benefit most from something like this...
If you are like I was at the beginning - within my healthy BMI range (not saying that BMI is the be all end all measure for health but it's something that most of us are familiar with) the effects of this crash will likely be minimal. This kick-start allegedly was based on something called 18in4 (lose 18 pounds in 4 days). I think that "promise" is not even a possibility for me based on my starting weight, but I am wondering if it would work for someone who is in the overweight spectrum of the BMI scale. BUT it is a VERY UNHEALTHY way to lose weight. Crash-dieting is NEVER good. Again I AM NOT RECOMMENDING THIS DIET! I'm just typing and thinking as I journal/blog my experience. A sidenote about 18in4 - the person who wrote it is CRAZY! He's SELLING the plan but has no legitimate experience or training. He is not a Dr, a dietician or anything remotely related. He's an average guy who's fought the weight-battle all his life. Scary on his part - selling something like that - I'm wondering how long it will be before someone serves him a lawsuit for charging people for an uneducated crash diet plan...
But I digress.
Strangely enough I'm glad I gave it a try. I'm amazed I feel as well as I do. But it WAS only 4 days. I'm really looking forward to eating normally again and I have re-gained my motivation to get back on track because following this crash-diet has shown me that I CAN do it.
I am excited to have reached my first weightloss goal and am scared that, because I lost the last few pounds in such an unhealthy manner, it's all going to come right back FAST. I am going to continue updating my blog as I go.
Thanks for sharing in my experience and reading this.
4-Day KITP Cleanse: Day 2
Fri May 8.09
Surprisingly I wasn't hungry when I woke up! I hadn't expected that. So here I go on day 2.
Breakfast:
2 cups water
Grapefruit (244g) = 103C
2 cups Black Tea with chai spices
Between Meals:
2 cups water
2 cups black tea with chai spices
Lunch:
2 cups water
Tomato (138g) = 27C
Green beans (1/2 cup) = 10C
Celery (48g) = 77C
Cantaloupe (117g) = 40C
2 cups black tea with chai spices
(weird lunch!)
Between Meals:
2 cups water
3:09pm - tummy is grumbling a bit but I really did expect to be hungrier than I am. Was tempted by a mini-crispy crunch bar & some puffed wheat chocolate squares & darling mini cupcakes and chocolate easter eggs... But I have resisted by thinking dinner isn't TOOOOOO far away. I've started cooking my chicken early and the smell is marvelous! Worth waiting for!
Dinner:
2 cups water
8oz baked chicken (seasoned without salt/sugar) = 375
(This was actually quite a lot of chicken!)
Squash (125g) = 41C
Tomato (114g) = 22C
2 cups water
Total Water: 12 cups
Total Black Tea: 6 cups
Total Calories: 695
Scary that people do this on a regular basis or twice in a row - I think 4 days is going to be more than enough for me. Although I am now understanding how it can become an adictive state of existing. Having this sort of control is actually kinda odd and strangely empowering (stupid buzz word... couldn't think of a better word though).
Will keep blogging as I go. I'm half way through now. 2 days down, 2 to go.
4-Day KITP Cleanse: Day 1
Thu May 7.09
Breakfast:
2 cups water + vitamins
1 grapefruit (277g) = 117 calories
2 cups black tea with chai spices (no sweetner & no milk)
Note: 10am, my usual snack time, I'm feeling the growlies. I'm hoping I will be successful in this and am feeling positive about regaining the upper hand on my bad habits so I'm sure that will help to motivate me.
Between Meals:
2 cups water
2 cups black tea with chai spices
Lunch:
2 cups water
1/2 cup green beans = 10C
1/2 cup butternut squash = 41C
2 hard-boiled eggs = 198C
1 cup tomato juice = 50C
2 cups of black tea with chai spices
Between Meals:
2 cups water
2 cups black tea with chai spices
Dinner:
2 cups water
1/2 cup green beans = 10C
6oz deer sausage = 334C
1 apple = 91C
2 final cups of water
Total caffienated tea: 6 cups
Total water: 12 cups
Total calories: 851
So I survived day one! I'd be lying if I said it was adequate food to make me feel full. There definitely always seems to be "hungry" near by... All the water helps fill the spaces...
Total Calories = 851??? And people think this is a GOOD idea? No wonder they get a kick-start on losing weight when following this! Also no wonder you're not "allowed" to exercise.
Hmmm...
Nope, not what I consider a smart idea but...
But alas... I kinda wanna see if it'll work! LoL
Forgive me, friends, for I am about to sin!
I am going to terribly restrict my calories for 3 more days in the name of vanity!
Week 10: New Strategy
Well, the binging apparently wasn't quite over... But as of today (Thursday May 7) I'm doing a mini-cleanse to regain control over my food choices, to kick start myself and to drop these last few pounds!
I'm calling this the "kick in the pants" cleanse. It's based on a few cleanses and weight loss kick starts that I've seen. Now, I'm NOT recommending doing this to anyone else. And honestly I've never been pro-cleanse. But I'm failing myself right now and I need to switch gears a little to get back on track.
I stepped on the scale today = 151.0 pounds
And will check again Monday morning when the cleanse is done.
So now it's mind over matter. The cleanse is NOT a lot of calories but I'm not doing a lot of exercise the next 4 days because I'm babysitting/housesitting. I'll be occupied within the constraints of a house and yard. Might as well give it a try. If it's not panning out I have no hard feelings about cancelling it. We shall see. I will keep posting here as I go.
Week Nine: Weigh-In
Friday May 1, 2009
So - I think part of what wasn't working lately has been that I've been slacking on the details in my blogging and I've been fibbing to myself when writing down my calories. Yup - that's my confession for today. I've admitted it and now I'll conquor it!
I was so excited to see 149.5 pounds 2 weeks ago that I completely/literally fell off the wagon!! It started out pretty minor and turned into an all out binge of all the crappy stuff I used to eat... So - after porking out tonight at a card-making workshop I am hoping I've got it out of my system. Stepping on the scale tomorrow aught to be enough to piss me off and get me back on track. I hope... I was up 1 pound last week and am pretty sure I'll be up again this week. Dumbass! Hopefully that will be enough to motivate me back into action.
DIY Bootcamp hit a bit of a rut so I'm hoping to get that fixed ASAP. I haven't been exercising at home - need to get back on that too.
I can't seem to figure out WHY I've fallen off the wagon and why it's so tough for me to get back on - but I do know it has to stop. Here & now.
That's my 2am (Sat May 2) babble.
Time to get some sleep.
I think I'm scared of what the scale will say tomorrow...
