Did 1.5 hour stroller walk today. Don't know if it's because I've walked with the stroller for 3 hours in the last 2 days or what, but I've got a very sore strip across my back... (whine whine snivel snivel!)

Week 9: Sun-Wed
It's been a challenging week for some reason. Maybe it's the "monthly monster" making me throw caution to the wind and eat like a maniac... Who knows! Anyhow - here's how my week has been shaping up so far.

Needing to Kick My Own Butt...
Okay - I ate a big bag of Nibs licorice today... What the...
I've been lacking in the exercise department since our recent revisitation by Old Man Winter (another lame excuse).
I think I'm going to have a bowl of icecream tonight (as if that makes things any better) and get BACK ON TRACK tomorrow.
I have no idea what's gotten into me! I've been working SO hard and have had really good success. Why am I in self-sabotage mode the last few days? I finally broke 150 pounds and saw the 140s and now this... Just doesn't make sense.
Enough is enough.
Time to reassert my motivation.
I want to see 145 pounds before the end of May.

Week 9: A Good Start To My Week
What a GREAT morning!
I brought my rubbermaid box of smaller clothes out of storage and everything fits! Even the Ricki's size SIXs skirts! Yay!
So now I'm on a mission to mooch jeans from friends. Terrible? Maybe. But I just can't justify spending $$ on new jeans when I still have a few pounds to lose.
Might have to see what I can find in some of the 2nd hand shops.
Thanks for reading my blog. This is REALLY helping to keep me motivated, focused and honest with myself. Thank you.

Week Eight: Saturday Weigh In
Saturday April 25, 2009
Today's weight was 150.5 pounds.
Up one from last week.
Down a total of 12 pounds.
At least 3.5-5.5 to go.
Let the excuses begin! (laughing)
Excuse #1 = My monthly visitor is due in a couple days
Excuse #2 = My fellow book clubbers make REALLY good snacks and I caved and ate WAY too many!
Excuse #3 = My Stampin' Up card making workshop was busy and ran late so I munched and visited the night away!
Reality: I let things slip knowing full well that I couldn't accurately track my calories. Time to get back on track and beat my goal! I'm into my "skinny jeans" which is a good thing but they're still a bit snug so it's time to get on with things.
On a good note I'm noticing some real differences in how I feel. I'm happier. I've got more energy. I'm not AS temped by my typical junk foods. Just feeling a lot more like ME these days.

Week 7: More Than "Body"
Well, today was my "mind" day as well. I'm not going to share intimate details but suffice to say I have not been a happy person lately. It had been getting worse instead of better prior to my Decision Date of Feb 28/09. Since then I started feeling better but it seemed more like a conscious battle rather than just being happy.
Today I went to Primary Care via a referral from my GP. If you would like to learn more check out their site @ www.albertapci.ca (sorry - for some reason I can't manage to get the link option to work!)
Primary Care is included in your medical care as an Albertan and is a resource we should all be aware of. They address issues relating to depression, grief, postpartum depression, longterm illness, etc. They can deal directly with short term counselling and can offer many resources and recommendations if additional medical attention is required.
My 1 on 1 counselling session with Lynda was great. She was very supportive and positive. I'm pretty private about this sort of thing but I feel like being honest as I go through this personal overhaul. She commended me on my coping mechanisms and strategies for moving forward so it was good to know I am heading in the right direction. It is apparently possible that I'm dealing with left over postpartum depression! "Depression" has been tough for me to swallow but she helped me realize it really is a "chemical thing" and is truly beyond my control if, in fact, it is postpartum. We talked about a lot of things and it was nice to basically just get things out in the open and off my chest. It was reassuring at the end when she said she didn't feel I needed more sessions but that she'd be willing to see me again for a follow up if I wanted.
So - Progress Report.
Body - check! Work in progress but not for long!
Mind - sound! (laughing) Just in need of a little reformatting in a perspective sense.
Soul - hmmm... Honestly, I think this falls nicely into place as I heal my body and mind. I think I'm going to reread some of my spirituality genre books and see where I am in that respect.
All in all I'm feeling much happier and much more like my old self.
= )
Oh - I almost forgot to mention part of my "mind" health matters. My GP has sent in a referral to a neurologist due to my ongoing vision issues that I always ignored as left overs from my migraine days. I figured as long as I didn't get the actual migraine I was fine with it! I still get the flashy pinwheels and blank spots in my visual field (at its most extreme I've literally had a line across my vision in one eye where I can't see anything in the top half) and due to the regularity of these occurring he wants me to see a specialist. The original recommendation came from my eye Dr when I told her about the visual symptoms and she couldn't find anything wrong with my eyes.
Interesting! Will keep you updated eventually. Don't expect to get in to see a specialist until fall.

Wed Apr 15.09
Okay - don't know why I let curiosity get the better of me this morning but I did. After breakfast when I was getting dressed I hopped onto the scale. Guess what it said??
152.0 pounds!
I'm now down 10.5 pounds.
That's 5 pounds left to go to hit my original goal of 147 pounds. I will admit that this has been going so well for me that I'm REALLY tempted to set my goal at 145 pounds... That would mean 7 to go. 145 just sounds like a great number!
I'll update with my calorie info later. I just HAD to share my news!
Also - now that I'm down 10 pounds I'm going to review my calory requirements and adjust if necessary.
My new numbers:
At Rest BMR 1,477 RMR 1,435
Sedentary Little or no exercise and desk job 1,772 1,722
Lightly Active Light exercise or sports 1-3 days 2,031 1,973
a week
Moderately Active Moderate exercise or sports 3-5 2,289 2,224
days a week
Very Active Hard exercise or sports 6-7 days 2,548 2,475
a week
Extremely Active Hard daily exercise or sports and 2,806 2,727
a physical job
I'm at the "Moderately Active" level now so with roughly a 525-575 calorie deficite my target calories are around 1650-1700 calories per day. Hmmm... Seems like a fair amount more than I've been eating. Will keep going as is and see how things go.
